Volunteer Opportunities
Our volunteers contribute over 18,000 hours of service each year! This support greatly enhances our ability to fulfill the mission of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. Opportunities enable you to:
- Develop friendships
- Accompany our elders on outings, i.e. shopping, dinner, picnics, community functions
- Escort residents to doctor appointments (transportation provided)
- Lead the rosary
- Play a musical instrument or sing with residents
- Play games
- Assist with craft activities
- Provide companionship at Club Gabriel
- Sell and arrange merchandise in the Gift Shop
- Be a Eucharist minister or assist with other religious programs
- Help our residents care for our plants and animals
- Assist with clerical duties – answer the phone, assemble mailings, etc.
- Take blood pressure and blood sugar screenings (must be registered nurse)
- Share interests or special hobbies
We have partnered with several local schools to involve students in the daily lives of our residents. Our After School Program provides daily opportunities for students to visit residents, care for our animals and share experiences.
A volunteer brings cheer, warmth a feeling of home and community events into the lives of residents. Volunteers make residents feel special.
In 2009, volunteers put in a total of more than 18,200 hours! We extend our deep appreciation to our volunteers for their generous service.
